Favorite Pictures

Image
It has become apparent to me that many who view this site enjoy the pictures. Recently I have been organizing some old pictures from various times and places. I thought I'd compile some of my favorites that I have taken. As you might expect they are mostly coastal pictures.... Hope you enjoy! This was at an 80's cover band concert at a bar here in Houston for Matt's birthday. The lead singer was walking around on top of the bar tables to interact with the audience. He was facing away from us with his big KISS spotlights and it just made an awesome picture! This was taken from a boat of another catamaran for the Texas Cruise in Key West when all the Parrot Heads go down to party! The sunset was just amazing! "Some where over the Rainbow.... " in Kaua'i island in Hawaii. Full rainbow over Hanalei Bay on the north side of the island. This was a second honeymoon courtesy of a wonderful and generous family friend! Again, in Kaua'i o

Best Burger in Town

Image
Some foods are just staples in our life. When I think of cook-outs by the pool, 4th of July, or softball games from when I was a teen; I think of Burgers. We love to grill! We also used to frequent Fuddruckers.... you cannot go wrong there.  However, I have now solidified my vote for BEST burger in town (and Matt agrees)! The Beef and Bleu Burger at Main St. Bistro Click HERE for their website. Doesn't it just make you mouth water!!!

Orlando, Florida Trip

Image
We just got back from a vacation in Orlando, Florida. It was a great time! Sometimes you just need to get away from the everyday life to dance like no one's watching and scream like a kid on a roller coaster! We did just that! Here are the food highlights of our trip: This was our meal at an Italian restaurant called Bice in the Loews Portafino Resort.  The Loews Portafino Resort. Its set up to look like Venice, Italy. This was at Disney's Boardwalk Resort. They has a micro-brewery. Here is the flight of beers we ordered so we could try them all. One tasted like a milk shake! The beautifully decorated cookies! Too cute to eat... I love this idea so much I plan on using it. Oreo cookies as Mickey Mouse's ears! =)   This is called a "Pot of Gold"! Basically its a baileys and Irish cream with a few more additions. We sucked them down so fast! We found these at Finnegan's an Irish Pub in Universal Studios. Bonus Picture: Here is

Tortellini Carbonara

Image
I'm very glad we have gotten so much rain lately. Our City and yards needed it! I've been pretty consumed with work lately. We have had some structural changes that I hope will carry out successfully. I like new adventures but realize they will come with their challenges. Keep your fingers crossed!  So I'm reading the book called The Life of PI , have you read it? As I began reading I kept thinking where is this going... I had no idea what the book was about. I only knew it got rave reviews. The main character kept talking about Richard Parker. Until much later I had no idea who this would end up being. For the majority of the book it technically was the same scene; however, it has been quite entertaining. I'm not finished yet so I do hope it ends happily. I don't care for stories that just drop you or end unhappily. If you are an avid reader you may be familiar with Dan Brown who wrote the incredibly popular Davinci Code . He has a new book coming out next Tuesda

Keels and Wheels Event- Classic Cars & Boats

Image
For those of you who enjoy classic cars this post is right up your alley! The local Yacht Club hosted their annual Keels and Wheels Event this past weekend. The event is for classic car and boat enthusiasts. There were so many different types of classic cars. As soon as you walk in you are bombarded with these chrome beauties! My husband was in his delight! They had many makes and models ranging from your upper crust Rolls Royce to my Dad's favorite the classic '69 Dodge Charger. In addition to the cars there were many beautiful boats. Perhaps I should say yachts... Wow! Here are a few of the pictures I took of our favorites! You can view the Lakewood Yacht Club's website HERE . Keels and Wheels website is HERE . I thought this one was meant to be pulled by horses but nope. It has an engine. I fear for the passengers if you had to stop quickly. Does anyone picture Lady Mary Crawley from Downton Abbey stepping out of one of these? ...and your classic Rolls

Local Farmer's Markets

Image
This past weekend we went to the local Farmer's Market. There are actually two places you can check out. Both have some great finds.  The first place is the Clear Lake Shores Farmer's market on FM2094. The open air market is next to Skippers restaurant.   The Kemah Farmer's Market is at the corner of FM2094 and Hwy146 You will usually find fresh produce, breads, jarred preserves, jewelry and other hand crafted goods. I usually make a beeline to the produce counter to get the freshest items. All these vendors are typically local. If you vote local with your wallet that means you are a "Locavore" ( one who eats foods grown locally whenever possible). Hope you can check it out sometime and find something you like. View the Kemah Farmer's market website HERE .  View the Clear Lake Shores Farmer's Market website HERE . Here are some pictures of our visit and my buys!
