Favorite Pictures

It has become apparent to me that many who view this site enjoy the pictures. Recently I have been organizing some old pictures from various times and places. I thought I'd compile some of my favorites that I have taken. As you might expect they are mostly coastal pictures.... Hope you enjoy!


This was at an 80's cover band concert at a bar here in Houston for Matt's birthday. The lead singer was walking around on top of the bar tables to interact with the audience. He was facing away from us with his big KISS spotlights and it just made an awesome picture!

This was taken from a boat of another catamaran for the Texas Cruise in Key West when all the Parrot Heads go down to party! The sunset was just amazing!


"Some where over the Rainbow.... " in Kaua'i island in Hawaii. Full rainbow over Hanalei Bay on the north side of the island. This was a second honeymoon courtesy of a wonderful and generous family friend!

Again, in Kaua'i on one of the north shore beaches. We randomly stumbled upon this beach while enjoying the most delicious coconut milk mocha! Yum!

In Maui for the Mt. Haleakala Sunrise which is notably the most beautiful sunrise in the world. You have to get up super early to get there in time and its freezing cold. We went on the trip with a tour group for my parents' 25th wedding anniversary!

One of the most memorable dates in my life! When Matt and I were dating we went on a Kemah dinner cruise. It was in the evening and the sky was pretty overcast. The picture ended up looking really neat!


St Lucia on our Honeymoon at the Sandals resort. Right next door was Pigeon Island National Park. Coincidentally they were hosting Jazz Fest when we were there. We took some tennis shoes and hiked up to the top. There are old forts to explore. From the top you had a great view of our resort and the bay! This was a trip of a lifetime!

On a family trip to Panama Beach Florida. So sweet....

The past month has included some tough moments for our family. My daughter has had three back to back ear infections. My son had a stomach virus and I've been a basket case worrying about them! Today in life we always seem busy although I'm also very firm on the belief that we make time for the things that are important in our lives. Taco Salad.... Ole'

We eat our fair share of Tex Mex food! However, I always think it's funny when we go to other places (outside the Houston, TX area) and we end up eating at a Mexican restaurant and we are sadly disappointed because it tastes nothing like at home. Tex Mex is a very different from traditional Mexican.  Queso is a staple in this area of the US. Everyone knows what queso is. It is not that cheese substitute they serve at ball fields with chips. I have a friend who could survive alone on just queso (You know who you are)!  Also, I have found that everyone rates Tex Mex restaurants based on their favorite thing there. For example, my mother-in-law bases her judgement based solely on their margaritas. My Mom bases her judgment based on their green sauce. My friend mentioned above bases her judgement on... you guessed it, queso. Me.... I'm a chicken fajita girl! Flat Iron Steak with Veggie Sauté

Another yummy meal created with the help of Kroger's Prep+Pared meals. This was my husbands favorite. I felt on top of my health game making and eating this meal. The great long term advantage of making these meals are that you get to keep the recipe card that lists the ingredients and the recipe instructions which allows you to easily recreate the meal. I'm most definitely keeping this recipe and plan to make again. My kids ate the steak and the veggies (carrots and cauliflower). For this recipe I added a bit more butter to what was called for and added in some minced garlic when tossing the veggies together. Last week was tough for me when I found out about the news in Santa Fe HS. This hit too close to home and has shaken me to my core. I'm so protective of my children and cannot imagine the pain those families and affected kids are feeling right now. I do not know the answer and I think we as a community have more questions that answers.
