Keels and Wheels Event- Classic Cars & Boats

For those of you who enjoy classic cars this post is right up your alley! The local Yacht Club hosted their annual Keels and Wheels Event this past weekend. The event is for classic car and boat enthusiasts. There were so many different types of classic cars. As soon as you walk in you are bombarded with these chrome beauties! My husband was in his delight! They had many makes and models ranging from your upper crust Rolls Royce to my Dad's favorite the classic '69 Dodge Charger. In addition to the cars there were many beautiful boats. Perhaps I should say yachts... Wow! Here are a few of the pictures I took of our favorites!

I thought this one was meant to be pulled by horses but nope. It has an engine. I fear for the passengers if you had to stop quickly.

Does anyone picture Lady Mary Crawley from Downton Abbey stepping out of one of these?


...and your classic Rolls Royce!




All the Rolls Royce's has some "set-ups" in the car for effect; mostly bottles of champagne or wine and some Grey Poupon! =) You can see this in the back seat if you look closely.












Just makes me want to pull into a drive-in and order a milk shake!








The line of Ferrari's! Most of these are worth more than my house!




My Dad's favorite: the classic '69 Dodge Charger! He says if you happen to have one of these beauties (which is rare) he'd gladly be your chauffeur for FREE!

Taco Salad.... Ole'

We eat our fair share of Tex Mex food! However, I always think it's funny when we go to other places (outside the Houston, TX area) and we end up eating at a Mexican restaurant and we are sadly disappointed because it tastes nothing like at home. Tex Mex is a very different from traditional Mexican.  Queso is a staple in this area of the US. Everyone knows what queso is. It is not that cheese substitute they serve at ball fields with chips. I have a friend who could survive alone on just queso (You know who you are)!  Also, I have found that everyone rates Tex Mex restaurants based on their favorite thing there. For example, my mother-in-law bases her judgement based solely on their margaritas. My Mom bases her judgment based on their green sauce. My friend mentioned above bases her judgement on... you guessed it, queso. Me.... I'm a chicken fajita girl! Flat Iron Steak with Veggie Sauté

Another yummy meal created with the help of Kroger's Prep+Pared meals. This was my husbands favorite. I felt on top of my health game making and eating this meal. The great long term advantage of making these meals are that you get to keep the recipe card that lists the ingredients and the recipe instructions which allows you to easily recreate the meal. I'm most definitely keeping this recipe and plan to make again. My kids ate the steak and the veggies (carrots and cauliflower). For this recipe I added a bit more butter to what was called for and added in some minced garlic when tossing the veggies together. Last week was tough for me when I found out about the news in Santa Fe HS. This hit too close to home and has shaken me to my core. I'm so protective of my children and cannot imagine the pain those families and affected kids are feeling right now. I do not know the answer and I think we as a community have more questions that answers.
