Main St. Bistro in League City

Taste of the Coast features: Main St. Bistro

When we get together with  family and friends; what do we usually do? EAT and DRINK! At our house that can range from snacks or the full multi-dish Thanksgiving meal. I enjoy cooking for many reasons, one of which is to enjoy the company of folks over something delicious. We also enjoy a nice evening out too. There are many local restaurants in the League City area that are independents and local owned.

A great place that we frequently visit is called Main St. Bistro. Their website including menu is HERE. Its located in downtown "old" League City next to Helen's Gardens. Its a small place that was redecorated by the current Owner and Executive Chef. We met Chef Mike at another restaurant where he was the Executive Chef and immediately appreciated his culinary skills. We also found out at this point he was our neighbor. Ha! So when he opened up Main St. Bistro we were eager to see what he would create for his own menu. The place has nice portions, is reasonably priced, and polite service. I hope you get the chance to check it out.

Here are pictures of our most recent visit. I've never gotten the same meal twice. I certainly hope one day I can create something this appetizing and beautiful!

Crab Cakes
Chicken Poblano

There will be no pictures or recipes that I personally tried. Really... How could I compare to this?

Upcoming Events: "Uncorked" in League City

Coming up in March League City's Walter Hall Park will host a global wine and art experience. It will be held on Saturday 3/23 through Sunday 3/24. Check out their website; CLICK HERE for detailed information and ticket information.

The park will be sectioned off by country / region. Some of the local wineries will be there with samples and bottles for sale. One of my personal favorites, Haak Vineyards and Winery, will be there. (I'll be featuring them in a later post.) There will be a grape stomping competition to be modeled after the "I Love Lucy" episode. Here is a You Tube Link, CLICK HERE, of some Lucy highlights if you have never seen this episode. There is a small fee to enter. They have a grape stomp for fun and one that is a competition for prizes. There will also be food demonstrations.  The food demonstrations are free but you will need to register online with a ticket holder name to reserve your spot.

If you are free I hope you can check out this event. If you participate in any event I'd love to hear about your experience!
